BACKTRACKING 2022, PART ONE -- SIGHTSEEING

Typically, the most picturesque time in my neck of the woods tends to be around the end of October and the beginning of November.  It was just about that time that Matt joined me for one of my post-surgery walks over in Michaux State Forest.  At that time, I still couldn’t do any trail hikes…so we walked around Laurel Lake and followed the access road up to Fuller Lake.  The pictures that I took that day are some of the best I’ve taken in a while.

Matt joined me for a five mile walk in Michaux State Forest.  The pictures that I took on this day were some of my favorite of the year.  -- October 26, 2022

Making our way around Laurel Lake, I snapped this picture of the Fall foliage reflecting in the still water.  -- October 26, 2022

Everyone who knows me knows that I love to take pictures.  It’s my way of documenting my life, my family, my friends, and our experiences.  I have a friend, Garry, who once told me “if there aren’t pictures…then it didn’t happen.”  I buy into that.  What follows, I think, are some of the best moments I was able to capture in 2022.

Enjoy!

I paused on my ride up the mountain on the D & L Trail to take this picture of an oncoming train. -- April 30, 2022

I had the privilege of filming at James Madison's Montpelier this summer.  On the evening that we were there I took this amazing picture of the sun setting behind the Blue Ridge Mountains while sitting on the porch of James Madison's Montpelier.-- June 7, 2022

This picture was a complete fluke.  While camping at Ohiopyle State Park, I took a walk back into the woods to take a leak.  This was the view I had.  Couldn't help but take the picture.  -- June 16, 2022

As I child, I spent a lot of time at Shawnee State Park near my home town of Bedford Pennsylvania.  I was able to ride there once this summer.  While crossing the dam I took the neat picture of the blue and white summer sky reflecting in Shawnee Lake.  -- July 8, 2022

The Rhode Island State House, located in Providence, Rhode Island, is a spectacular building...both inside and out! -- July 20, 2022

Old Slater Mill, located in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, is now part of the National Park Service.  The entire place has a vintage postcard look about it.  -- July 22, 2022

A great picture of the sun setting over the Susquehanna River.  I took this picture from the Enola Low Grade bike trail in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania  -- July 25, 2022

Wow.  This is the morning sky in Michaux State Forest.  -- August 23, 2022

There is a lot going on this picture.  The trail that navigates through an emerald green fern gully, my mountain biking friends having a conversation further up that trail, and the massive growth on huge white pine.  -- August 26, 2022

Christmas spirit in West Palm Beach, Florida.  An ice cream truck, too!  -- November 28, 2022

My morning walk on the beach in south Florida.  -- November 28, 2022

State Parks in Florida are remarkably different than State Parks in Pennsylvania.  I took this picture of the Florida landscape while hiking in Jonathan Dickenson State Park.  -- December 2, 2022

I didn't realize how cool this picture was until a few days after I took it.  On a cold, crisp morning, Matt, Tim, and I headed out for an "ugly sweater" hike in Michaux.  I took this picture at the outset of our hike.  You can see the frozen tree tops in the areas where the sun wasn't shining.  Pretty neat. -- December 10, 2022

Life is a journey...not a destination.
